580 George Street, Sydney – Mechanical Upgrade

This building combines 33 levels of office space, 2 levels of retail and 3 levels of underground car parking making it one of Sydney’s largest commercial towers. The plant was made up of a combination of two main load chillers (CH1 and CH3) and two low load chillers (CH2 and CH4).  The main load chiller plant had reached (or exceeded) its economic lifespan and in the case of CH3 has notably failed entirely so were proposed for replacement. On behalf of the GPT Group, Accuraco was appointed to assist the client with replacement of the aging (and failing) main load chiller units for completion prior to the 23/24 summer period.

Accuraco acting as client-side project managers advised and executed a ‘Best and Final Offer’ (BAFO) engagement with chiller suppliers to procure critical plant to expedite the timeline and mitigate project risk. The following sub-project of on-site Jib Crane refurbishment and recertification to lift the chiller units to the Level 34 Plantroom on site. The project was completed on program through stakeholder engagement, works planning, early council engagement for permits, test lifts and safety consultant engagement to complete the refurbishment prior to chiller delivery to site.
